PMC12 XBD delivers massive SPL, ultra-low-distortion bass, precise dispersion, and powerful DSP-optimised monitoring for elite music, broadcast, and film facilities.

The PMC12 XBD represents a significant step up from the PMC10 XBD in its scale, dynamics, bass extension, and maximum SPL, and is designed for the most demanding professional environments. This system is ideally suited to high-end music recording, mixing, and mastering studios, as well as to larger broadcast, television, and film post-production facilities working in both stereo and immersive sound, where accuracy, power, and enormous LF headroom are critical requirements.

Each PMC12 XBD system comprises a pair of latest-generation Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) cabinets, engineered with LaminairX™ venting to deliver uncompromising low-frequency extension, control, and efficiency. The primary cabinet features a hand-built 34mm soft-dome tweeter and a PMC75v3 midrange driver, both enhanced by PMC’s proprietary n-compass™ waveguide, which guarantees precise dispersion, phase integrity, and absolute tonal consistency—ensuring every critical decision translates without question.

Low frequencies are reproduced by both cabinets using two newly developed, in-house designed 12-inch bass drivers. Each unit features double-stacked magnets, three-inch, three-layer voice coils, and highly stable suspensions that maintain linear motor force over extraordinarily extended pistonic excursions. This complex, innovative design delivers ultra-low distortion at all monitoring levels.

Power for the system is provided by PMC’s master36 rack-mount DSP and amplification platform, delivering 800W each to the high- and mid-frequency drivers and 1000W to each bass driver—a massive 3.6kW of effortless power in all. Precision DSP provides optimised crossovers, transparent driver protection, and comprehensive room EQ via PMC’s SoundAlign2 browser-based interface.

"The new PMC mains represent a key part of our rebuild at Capitol Studios. They continue the excellence that PMC’s reputation was built on, while evolving to meet the demands of our clients. Starting with the 6’s, 6-2’s, and 8-2’s, and now seeing that in the 10s, 12s, 15s, and 10-4s, it’s the same sound and quality and character that you know and love — now expanded to meet your needs at any size room. "
Nick Rives , Director of Audio Engineering, Universal Music Group
"I’ve never heard a tighter low end. "
Pascal Pahl, Audio Engineer / Producer
"I work on IB2s. The new mains are very similar, but I feel like you get so much more out of the low end with these. They still have that classic PMC stereo imaging and top end. "
Nick Townsend , Infrasonic Mastering
"The push that PMC keeps making with technology as they create more and more ways for us to listen critically and connect to music is pretty amazing. In particular, I find the new speakers provide unparalleled definition. "
Matt Cerritos , Stereo and Atmos Mixing Engineer
"I’ve listened to a bunch of my mixes on the new mains, and I’m thinking I need to go mortgage something to upgrade my studio. They sound amazing; they still sound like PMCs, but taken to the next level. "
Andrew Scheps , Stereo and Atmos Mixing Engineer
"The new look is incredible. As for the important stuff, they still have the signature sound and detail that you expect — I have the MB3’s and the BB6’s — it just feels like they’ve taken things even further in terms of transient definition, headroom, loudness, and maintenance of frequency response throughout. I’ve cranked them about as high as I could bear and it felt like the headroom was endless. "

THE SOUNDALIGN² INTERFACE

TAKE CONTROL

SOUNDALIGN digital interface
The SoundAlign2™ web interface offers intuitive and responsive control of our near, mid, and main active DSP monitors, as well as their matching subwoofers. Each monitor speaker has a built-in web server. You can access it over a wired Ethernet connection, using any standard web browser on a PC or Mac system.

The new SoundAlign2 software will be released alongside our new main monitor systems. Existing SoundAlign users can access the updated control software via our Firmware Downloads page, ensuring a streamlined upgrade path to the enhanced SoundAlign2 platform. Notifications regarding the release date will be communicated via email and our social media channels. ABOUT SOUNDALIGN
One of the keys to our legendary natural, uncoloured sound is our Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading. ATL uses energy generated by the bass unit in a much more intelligent and efficient way than speaker designs based on ported or sealed boxes. Our Laminair airflow technology further enhances ATL and improves definition, timing and eradicates unwanted air noise.
