PMC10 XBD | PMC Speakers

The PMC10 XBD is the ultimate expression of the PMC10 design. This two-cabinet system comprises a standard PMC10 three-way loudspeaker, supplemented by a second identical cabinet fitted only with the bass driver. This combination extends power handling and LF headroom, giving greater scale and impact, ideally suited for both stereo and immersive monitoring in large-scale music tracking and mix room applications, as well as in film and TV post-production, mastering, and streaming service facilities.

A primary cabinet houses a hand-built 34mm soft-dome tweeter and the PMC75v3 midrange driver, incorporating exclusive a-void™ damping and proprietary n-compass™ waveguide, all on a rotatable panel for vertical or horizontal placement. An illuminated logo provides system status.

Low frequencies are reproduced by an innovative, in-house-designed 10-inch bass driver, specifically engineered to work with the latest iteration of our ATL™ cabinet design featuring LaminairX™ vents. The XBD cabinet contains the same 10-inch bass driver, which is connected in parallel with that in the main loudspeaker, the pair working to enhance the system’s scale and impact. The primary and XBD cabinets can be placed as a freestanding vertical or horizontal stack, or installed side-by-side in a soffit.

Power for both cabinets is provided by PMC’s master36 rack-mountable DSP/Amplifier unit, employing ultra-transparent Class-D amplification to deliver 800W each to the tweeter and midrange drivers, and 1000W to each of the two bass drivers, giving a total power of 3.6kW. The system’s integrated DSP offers precision digital crossovers optimised for the PMC10’s bespoke driver combination, along with transparent excursion limiting for system protection and comprehensive room-optimisation EQ. The system accepts both analogue and digital inputs and can be controlled over a standard LAN via the SoundAlign2 browser-based interface.

THE SOUNDALIGN² INTERFACE

TAKE CONTROL

The SoundAlign2™ web interface offers intuitive and responsive control of our near, mid, and main active DSP monitors, as well as their matching subwoofers. Each monitor speaker has a built-in web server. You can access it over a wired Ethernet connection, using any standard web browser on a PC or Mac system.

The new SoundAlign2 software will be released alongside our new main monitor systems. Existing SoundAlign users can access the updated control software via our Firmware Downloads page, ensuring a streamlined upgrade path to the enhanced SoundAlign2 platform. One of the keys to our legendary natural, uncoloured sound is our Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading. ATL uses energy generated by the bass unit in a much more intelligent and efficient way than speaker designs based on ported or sealed boxes. Our Laminair airflow technology further enhances ATL and improves definition, timing and eradicates unwanted air noise.

WIDE DISPERSION
