PMC10-4 XBD delivers monumental scale, extreme SPL, immense controlled bass, and forensic reference accuracy powered by 9.6kW DSP-optimised amplification for elite studios.

The PMC10-4 XBD is the ultimate expression of the PMC10-4 concept—a huge, no-compromise main monitor system designed for the world’s most demanding recording and mixing environments. Drawing on the architectural philosophy and visual language of the iconic QB1—which was developed in close collaboration with Capitol Studios engineers— the PMC10-4 XBD is the definitive form of a true reference main monitor.

Delivering extraordinary dynamic headroom and profound low-frequency extension, with exceptional resolution, finesse, and micro-detail, the PMC10-4 XBD employs eight in-house, ultra-long-throw, 10-inch low-frequency drivers operating in perfect unison. Four units are housed in each of the two latest-generation ATL™ Advanced Transmission Line cabinets with LaminairX™ airflow venting. This design ensures immense-scale bass reproduction that is fast, controlled, and tonally precise.

A power-house low-frequency system is seamlessly integrated around PMC’s proven mid–high architecture comprising a precision 34mm soft-dome tweeter and PMC75v3 midrange, both enhanced by PMC’s proprietary n-compass™ waveguide for controlled dispersion, unwavering phase coherence, and tonal consistency across the listening area. This vast system is designed to ensure production and engineering decisions translate with confidence, even at extreme SPLs.

The entire PMC10-4 XBD system is managed by our in-house designed Master36 DSP/Amplifier unit, where precision DSP underpins performance. Optimised crossovers, transparent system protection, and comprehensive room EQ are delivered via PMC’s SoundAlign2 interface, allowing precise alignment without compromising signal integrity. This unit delivers 800W to each tweeter and midrange driver.

Eight bass drivers are powered in pairs, with the first pair powered directly by the Master36 and each receiving 1000W. The second pair in the primary cabinet, and both pairs in the XBD cabinet, are driven by their own power20 amplifier units—three in total. Working together, these amplifiers provide the PMC10-4 XBD system with an extraordinary 9.6kW of high-headroom Class-D amplification. The three power20 units are unified with the Master36 through PMC’s proprietary masterlink connection system, and discreet illuminated logos in each cabinet provide system status feedback.

The PMC10-4 XBD is a truly monumental main monitoring solution, delivering visceral impact, forensic detail, vast SPL capability, and uncompromising low-frequency authority for the world’s most elite control rooms.

THE SOUNDALIGN² INTERFACE

TAKE CONTROL

SOUNDALIGN digital interface
The SoundAlign2™ web interface offers intuitive and responsive control of our near, mid, and main active DSP monitors, as well as their matching subwoofers. Each monitor speaker has a built-in web server. You can access it over a wired Ethernet connection, using any standard web browser on a PC or Mac system.
The new SoundAlign2 software will be released alongside our new main monitor systems. Existing SoundAlign users can access the updated control software via our Firmware Downloads page, ensuring a streamlined upgrade path to the enhanced SoundAlign2 platform. Notifications regarding the release date will be communicated via email and our social media channels. ABOUT SOUNDALIGN
One of the keys to our legendary natural, uncoloured sound is our Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading. ATL uses energy generated by the bass unit in a much more intelligent and efficient way than speaker designs based on ported or sealed boxes. Our Laminair airflow technology further enhances ATL and improves definition, timing and eradicates unwanted air noise.
