From PMC – the producer of true reference loudspeaker monitors – the twotwo series combines PMC’s world-class design pedigree with sophisticated digital signal processing and active amplification to create a range of stunningly accurate, versatile, and compact two-way reference grade monitors.

The range comprises of three models – the twotwo.5, twotwo.6 and twotwo.8 – all designed and built in Britain using state-of-the-art technologies and components. The result is unrivalled level of clarity, transparency and accuracy for professional compact monitors. twotwo series models all share the same core design and features – the model number refers only to the approximate size (in inches) of the bass driver, with larger numbers denoting increasing cabinet volume, greater bass extension and higher SPL capabilities.

PMC’s attention to detail is evident throughout the design of twotwo series, but a feature new to the compact range is their ability to operate in either the vertical or horizontal orientations without compromising stereo imaging or tonal accuracy. This makes them ideally suited for nearfield monitoring of music and speech in situations where space is at a premium, such as in outside broadcast vehicles, small radio on-air studios and television sound control galleries, project music studios, video editing and post-production suites and for A&R evaluations.

  • True compact reference monitors with ATL™ bass loading technology
  • Class leading connectivity – both analogue & digital up to 192kHz
  • Cutting edge, audiophile, high efficiency dual Class-D amplification
  • Powerful DSP engine controlling driver response, crossover & EQ
  • Versatile positioning – perfect in both vertical & horizontal orientation
  • Precision drivers designed and built by PMC for dynamics & neutrality

The twotwo series' flagship model is the largest and most accomplished, employing a large 200mm (8") bass driver and a substantial ATL cabinet to create a completely unflappable midfield monitor with astounding dynamics, clarity and depth. This model showcases the stunning precision that can be achieved with PMC's advanced DSP technology, class-leading amplification, unique ATL cabinets, and bespoke drivers. The twotwo.8 takes everything in its stride, revealing every nuance and detail of the source as a true monitor should. This is a genuinely professional monitoring tool that can be relied upon with total confidence.

The twotwo range were requested for ASCAP's (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers) annual song writing event at industry veteran Miles Copeland's, Chateau Marouatte. Here's what some of the world-class songwriters/producers that attended the event had to say about their experience working with the twotwo's:

"I don’t understand that in this day and age you need a dedicated wired controller. In some cases this might be preferred because of the level knob. But when installing the monitors it would be so great to set crossover and levels of frequencies with a tablet or smartphone. "

"The speakers are an excellent fit in a domestic environment. I use them with a subwoofer, but it’s set to roll off at 28Hz (down from 35 or 40 with previous speakers), which shows just how full-range the speakers are. The twotwo.8s happily accept unbalanced Naim preamp outputs into their analogue XLR inputs — this only required changing the plugs on one end of standard microphone cables to channel-specific 4-pin DINs. Using these connections allows the cable to be screened (‘pseudo-balanced’ — screen connected at the speaker end only) without worrying about earthing compatibility between two things designed to very different philosophies. The sub is fed in parallel from the same preamp outputs (because although Naim probably never intended this, they do provide 4 output sockets). The speakers are set to apply some gain to the unbalanced-level input, but EQ is best flat for almost any recording. The sound is ‘huge’ in character, compared to any domestic system I’ve ever heard, I think because of the agile but extended bass … which really alters the tonal balance (for the better) on some recordings I thought I knew quite well …. … and of course they simply go as loud as one could want, without the sound hardening or ‘shouting’. All in all, I’d highly recommend them for use in an ordinary living space. "
