PMC loudspeakers has triumphed in this year’s round of UK hi-fi awards with no fewer than three successes for its twenty series speakers from What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision and Hi-Fi News magazines.
Just one year after the critically acclaimed twenty series was launched with a fanfare at the company’s 20th anniversary conference, the twenty.21, twenty.22 and twenty.23 have been recognised by the experts as being the best in the their class.
During the recent What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision Awards at London’s Dorchester Hotel, managing director Miles Roberts was presented with two trophies for the “Stereo Speakers Best Standmounter £1500+” awarded to the twenty.22 and “Stereo Speakers Best Floorstander £1500+” which was given to the twenty.23. This follows two stunning five-star reviews from the magazine in which the reviewers were moved to comment, “PMC has put 20 years of experience to good use” and “We think PMC is onto a winner here” – how right they were!
The smallest model in the range, the twenty.21 may be diminutive in stature, but it certainly packs a punch much bigger than its size suggests. Reviewing it in the leading high-end publication, Hi-Fi News, Ken Kessler said, “…and you can say only one word. And that is: wow!” In a further testament to how impressed he was, he added, “With this in mind, I’m keeping a pair as my £1000-£2000 reference.” And, as a result of this review, the magazine has included the twenty.21 in its annual Yearbook, which showcases the year’s best products.
Commenting on the trio of awards, Peter Thomas, owner and chief designer of PMC, said, “I am absolutely delighted that the twenty series has been recognised by the leading hi-fi magazines in their annual awards.
