After 23 years’ sterling service to PMC the time has come for Tom Barron to hang up his car keys for the last time and bow out gracefully to a very well-deserved retirement.

At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Paul Bayliss, an eminently qualified successor, who is stepping into Tom’s shoes to look after Hifi & Ci sector here in the UK.

Tom Barron joined PMC as the company’s first area sales manager in 1999, shortly after the introduction of the FB1 – our first dedicated audiophile floorstanding speaker. Originally Tom was looking after the whole of the UK, taking and demonstrating the fledgling range of products to retailers across the length and breadth of the country. He quickly became a very familiar and popular member of the PMC team, known and respected by his colleagues and the many retailers with whom he built such solid relationships. And to say he was pivotal to the development of PMC into the highly respected home audio business it is today cannot be overstated.

Tom was also a very familiar site at hi-fi shows through the years. As Peter Thomas, founder and owner of PMC puts it “The hi-fi buying public also grew to know him through his now legendary demonstrations at the many shows we attend. Always enjoying himself, clearly a master of the art of demonstration and a great ‘face of PMC’, he helped make our demos the most popular at the shows. I am enormously grateful for his many years of dedication and service to PMC and am very proud to be able to call him a friend. We all wish Tom well as he starts his much-deserved retirement.”

Ensuring continuity of service, PMC Distribution UK has appointed Paul Bayliss to the role of business development manager south, overseeing sales and retailer support across the company’s PMC, Bryston, AVM, and Martin Logan brands for the southern UK region. Paul was previously responsible for our Asia Pacific sales.

Taking over the territory and responsibilities of Tom Barron is a very exciting prospect and an honour for me. I am looking forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks and months and continuing the great work you’re doing with PMC Distribution UK products,” says Bayliss.

Tom Barron officially retires on 30th June, and we thank Tom for making a difference to both PMC and the UK’s HiFi industry.
