PMC will be a Gold Sponsor of the 2026 Society for Music Production Research Conference, taking place at the University of Huddersfield from 9–11 September. Bringing together producers, engineers, songwriters, educators, researchers and students from around the world, SMPR provides a forum for exploring how music is created, recorded and reproduced. PMC will also be represented on the conference programme by studio ambassador Kurt Martinez, who will be delivering a lecture during the event.
The three-day conference will be hosted across the University of Huddersfield’s music and technology facilities. The Richard Steinitz Building houses recording and mixing studios, songwriting and band rooms and the Phipps Concert Hall, while the neighbouring Oastler Building is expected to host many of the conference lectures and keynote presentations.
SMPR anticipates an international audience of around 80–100 delegates, including professional producers, engineers and songwriters, music and music-technology educators, students, Dolby Atmos mixers, musicologists and R&D specialists.
Discussion across the conference will span an equally broad range of subjects, from production and songwriting technology to Dolby Atmos, film scoring, studio construction, delivering music to labels and the changing role of technology across different genres.
